Introduction
Traffic volume on Amazon tends to change throughout the day and advertisers may want to increase or decrease bids at a certain time to align with patterns in shopping behaviours.
Let's consider a few scenarios. Advertisers may decide to bid higher when:
CPCs (Cost-per-clicks) are lower;
ACOS is lower;
SOV (Share of Voice) dips during the day
💡PRO TIP: use our Search Insights feature to see how you can leverage SOV data!
Sales volume is higher.
Stream Optimization empowers you to implement bid adjustments at specific times throughout the day, adhering to a customized schedule you create.
Within the Performance section, users gain insights into their campaign's performance data with a focus on weekly, daily, and hourly trends – a feature known as Stream Reporting.
Changing bids manually for each campaign can be a very tedious process. By creating a bid multiplier schedule through our Bid Multiplier Schedule dashboard, you can have our ad engine apply changes to bids automatically for Amazon Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brand goals (including keyword boost campaigns, but auto campaigns).
Factors to Consider
Available to Amazon accounts across all regions and for Perpetua users on Growth or Premium plans only (learn more about our pricing here)
Currently supports Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brand goals.
🚨 Note 🚨
Keyword Boost campaigns are included, but AUTO campaigns are not).
Bid multipliers may take up to 15 minutes to apply at the specified hour. This may result in some spend occurring in the first hour that a goal or segment is paused.
The data reflected will represent the marketplace of the connected account.
Data provided in both Stream Reporting-Performance and Bid Multiplier Schedules is not supported for download.
Upon creating a Bid Multiplier Schedule, the same segment cannot have two schedules applied simultaneously. If you apply a new schedule to a segment that already has an existing schedule applied, that new schedule will override the previous one.
For example, imagine:Competitor Segment "XYZ" is currently part of Schedule "A," with bid multipliers set to increase bids by 20%.
If you edit Schedule "B" to include Competitor Segment "XYZ," the bid multipliers from Schedule "B" will now take effect, overriding the 20% increase previously set by Schedule "A."
How to Create a Bid Multiplier Schedule1️⃣
Click the Stream tab in your left sidebar and the Bid Multiplier Schedules section within Click "New Schedule" (3) to begin the creation process.
2️⃣ Name your schedule (1) and hover over a specific day and time slot to expose the pencil icon (2). Click that icon to edit the bid multiplier percentage for that slot. Notice how the icons framed in the pop-up window will allow you to copy the values across multiple cells (right, left, above and below) (3) for time-saving.
Enter the bid multiplier percentage you want to apply. For example, if I want my bid to increase by 1.1x, I will input 110.
🚨 Note 🚨
Inputting 0% will pause the campaign/goal.
Inputting 100% will not execute any changes.
3️⃣ Upon Confirming the edits, you'll see your changes appear in red (1).
Once edited the slots you wished to, save the changes (2).
4️⃣ All applied multipliers will appear in the list of created schedules on the left. In our example below we have 24 (1). Click the purple "Apply to Goals" button to include goals within the schedule (2).
5️⃣ In the pop-up window, choose the goal/s you want the schedule applied to by clicking "Select" (1). The type of goals can be filtered (see next step below).
The selected goal will be highlighted in grey (2) and added to the "Selected Goals" list on the right, where you can remove it if needed (3). Finally, confirm your selection by clicking "Confirm" (4).
You can filter by Ad type to find Sponsored Product or Sponsored Brand goals.
6️⃣Filter your goals: this option allows you to select different ad types, choose between active or inactive goals, and filter by both ad type and launch type for better customization.
7️⃣ If there are any segments you want to exclude from your goal selections, click the dropdown arrow beside them (1) and uncheck any segments to deselect them (2).
Keyword Boost campaigns will also be listed here.
🚨 Note 🚨
The same segment cannot have two schedules applied simultaneously.
If you apply a new schedule to a segment that already has an existing schedule applied, that new schedule will override the previous one.
For example, if I edit Schedule "a" to include a segment that is in Schedule "b", the bid multipliers from Schedule "a" will take effect.
8️⃣ Beside the segments and in the bottom left corner of the pop-up, you'll see an additional toggle.
💡 Toggle ON
Stream schedules will apply on top of any targets with a manual fixed bid adjustment. It will apply on top of the fixed bid value, not the base bid.
For example, if my target's base bid was $1.00, I manually increased it to $2.00 via a fixed bid adjustment and then applied a 200% bid multiplier schedule to it, the new bid would be $4.00.
💡 Toggle OFF
Stream schedules will not apply on top of targets with manually adjusted fixed bids. The bid will remain as the fixed bid.
For example, if my target's base bid was $1.00, I manually increased it to $2.00 via a fixed bid adjustment and then applied a 200% bid multiplier schedule to it, the schedule will be ignored and the bid will remain at $2.00
9️⃣ Once your list of goals is complete, confirm your selection by clicking the purple "Apply to Schedule" button.
