View performance trends by time of day and time of week so you can optimize your dayparting schedule on Perpetua

Introduction

Using the Stream Performance tab on Perpetua, you can now view weekly, daily and hourly trends on your campaign performance data.

Providing access to data on this level of granularity gives Perpetua users the superpower to optimize dayparting schedules. Perpetua's Stream Reporting can be used in conjunction with our Stream Optimization (Bid Multiplier Schedules) feature to decrease or increase bids during certain times of the day.

The Performance dashboard offers the ability to view the average of any advertising metric across a 30-day period. For example, if I select the month of January using the date picker at the upper right corner of the screen, then the data points display averages from January 1st to January 31st. The average can be broken down by day of week, time of day, or both. Furthermore, you will have the option to filter by account, goals or campaigns.


Factors to Consider

  • Available to Amazon accounts across all regions and for Perpetua users on Growth or Premium plans only (learn more about our pricing here)

  • Currently supports Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brand goals.

  • The data reflected will represent the marketplace of the connected account.

  • A date selector longer than the past 30 days can't be selected.

  • Amazon only provides SB stream data for v4 SB campaigns.


Dashboard Configuration

1️⃣ Access the Stream tab (1) and select the "Performance" tab at the top (2).
Pick a date from the date range selector on the top right corner of the dashboard (3).


🚨 Note 🚨

The range cannot be longer than the past 30 days.


2️⃣ To choose which data you want to see, select options from the three drop-down menus at the top.

Filter by Campaigns, Goals, or Account (1), and choose an Ad Type—either Sponsored Products or Sponsored Brands (2).
As shown in the image below, the "Goals" drop-down menu (3) will adjust based on the selection made in the "Filter by" field (1). If "Goals" is chosen, enter the goal's name, and the same applies when filtering by "Campaigns."

💡 If you'd like to plot data from Custom Goals, set the "filter by" to goals rather than campaigns.


3️⃣ Scrolling down the dashboard, the drop-down menu in the Aggregate Performance section allows you to choose to view data by "Day of Week", "Time of Day" or both:

💡 Hourly data is shown in the timezone of your region/marketplace.

4️⃣ When the "Day of Week" and "Time of Day" options are individually selected, you will see a graph with trend lines.

5️⃣ When both "Day of Week &Time of Day" are selected (1), the trend-line graph is replaced by a heat map (2).
The heat map displays data based on the metric you choose from the tiles above it (learn more about how to edit the metrics selected here)(3), offering a visual representation of performance across different times and days.

💡 The data points displayed in each cell represent an average of the date range you picked.


How To Interpret The Heat Map

  • Darker colours (ie. purple shades higher in intensity) on the heat map represent higher values.

  • The legend is shown in the upper right corner (framed in red in the image below).

  • On the horizontal axis, the columns of the grid are labelled by day of the week: Sunday to Saturday.

  • On the vertical axis to the left, you can see the hour starting at 12 AM.

  • As previously mentioned, the heat map displays data based on the metric you choose from the tiles above offering a visual representation of performance across different times and days.

  • The data points displayed in each cell represent an average of the date range you picked for the selected metric.

  • By hovering over a single cell, the data for the four metrics selected in the tiles will be displayed, providing a detailed view of the specific values for that time and day.


Why Am I Seeing Negative Values?

Amazon may send some negative values in the first few days that an account is subscribed to Stream data. This is normal and should stop within 2-3 days of first signing up for Stream data. After a week, all data should aggregate to a net positive value.
