What is Cost Control?

Amazon offers its internal optimization, which is called "Cost Control".
This optimization is different from Perpetua’s ad engine since it does not aim to achieve a certain target ACoS.

When cost control is turned on, Amazon prevents users from making bid adjustments to targets or changing any target bids manually. This also applies to our ad engine capabilities, which means Perpetua cannot apply its calculated bids to get campaigns to hit their target ACoS.

How Does it Work in Perpetua?

In the Amazon Ad Console Cost Control is OFF by default unless you turn it ON to a campaign.

🚨Note🚨
If Cost Control is turned on in your Amazon Ad Console, Perpetua will not optimize the bids for your Sponsored Brands and Sponsored Display goals.
We recommend not using cost control if you also want to optimize your campaign on Perpetua.

In the upcoming weeks, we will build a check to ensure this setting doesn’t conflict with our ad engine. That means that Perpetua will check and turn off Costo Control:

  • for campaigns you are taking over in Perpetua;

  • and for any existing goals on the platform.

How to Manually Turn it Off

For campaigns where Cost Control is turned ON, you can turn it OFF in the Amazon Ad Console.

1️⃣ Click into your desired campaign in the campaign manager;

2️⃣ Click into the ad group, and then select “Ad group settings” on the left sidebar;

3️⃣ Uncheck the “Cost Control” option to turn it off.
