Introduction

If you have initially launched Universal Goals and are now ready to start targeting a more specific audience by switching to either Brand-Based or Advanced targeting, follow the instructions listed in the next article's section below.

Switch Targeting Type Guide

1️⃣ Go to the "Sponsored Products" tab on the left panel (1) and select the goal you want to view from the list. Once inside the goal's deep-dive dashboard (2), navigate to the "Targeting Type" section located on the right side of the dashboard and click on it (3).

2️⃣ A dropdown menu will appear, offering you the option to switch the targeting type to either Brand-Based or Advanced. Select the targeting type you'd like to assign to the Universal goal from the list.

3️⃣ Complete the additional sections with the required Daily budgets and Target ACoS.
If you have chosen Advanced targeting, you will need to add new Branded phrases as well as Competitor phrases. Please see some examples of these below:

  • Branded Phrases: Your brand name and any misspellings that come along with it (i.e. Adidas, Adiadas, Addidas). Learn more here.

  • Competitor Phrases: Competitor brand names and any misspellings that come along with it (i.e. Nike, Nikey). Learn more here.

4️⃣ After you have filled out all of the required information, go ahead and click "Save Changes" and your goal structure change will be updated.

Switch From Brand-Based/Advanced to Universal

Reverting the targeting type of your Sponsored Product goal from Branded-Based or Advanced back to Universal is generally not recommended since our engine might wrongfully harvest, pause, and/or populate data.

💡 Instead, it’s best to launch a new goal and select Universal as the targeting type from the beginning to avoid potential disruptions in performance.
