Introduction

Data Comparison

Perpetua's performance comparison feature allows users to go beyond the standard prior-period comparisons. This feature is designed to help you compare performance over flexible, custom date ranges, offering valuable insights for specific business needs, particularly useful when you need to compare performance across non-standard time frames, such as:

  • Year-over-year, Month-over-month, Quarter-over-Quarter Comparisons (and more): Assess how a specific time period, such as a month or week, performed this year compared to the same period last year. This helps you understand seasonal trends and identify growth or areas for improvement.

  • Custom Promotional Comparisons: Events like Prime Day or holiday sales don’t always happen on the same dates each year. With custom date range comparisons, you can measure performance across different promotional periods, even when the event dates vary from year to year.

Data Aggregation

Data aggregation on a graph allows you to view performance over different time frames using the "view by day/weekly/quarter/month" filter. This helps you adjust the granularity of your data, enabling you to focus on short-term daily trends or long-term quarterly or monthly performance, depending on your needs.
This flexibility helps in analyzing data at different granularities for better insights.

Best Practices

This feature gives you the flexibility to analyze performance more accurately, making it a powerful tool for long-term planning and decision-making.

🌟 Planning for Future Events
Use year-over-year comparisons to prepare for seasonal sales cycles or promotional events by analyzing what worked last year.

🌟 Evaluating Promotional Impact:
After a promotional period like Prime Day, compare performance with other promotional events of a similar length to see which strategy yielded better results.

How to Set Up

1️⃣ Upon creating a Custom Report (learn more here), select the time range (or Performance Range).

2️⃣ In the new window proposed, you can:

  • Select a "Performance Range" using the proposed time selector:

Or manually selecting the desired dates, turning it into "Custom Range".

  • And comparing it to another period you'd like. To do so, switch on the "Comparison Range" toggle (1), and select among the proposed periods from the drop-down list (2):

Or manually select the dates from the calendar, triggering a "Custom Range" period:

💡 Notice how the "Performance Range" dates are marked in purple, whereas the "Comparison Range" dates are in grey.

3️⃣ Click "Confirm" to apply the selected periods. Then, proceed with creating your custom report by choosing the Configuration you want to generate the report for.

Visualize Data on Graph

With the generated report, the data displayed on the graph will provide you with more visibility on the Performance Range and Comparison Range we just applied.

From the image below, notice how the "Performance Data" on the graph is represented with a straight-line trend (1), whereas the "Comparison Data" by a dashed line (2).

To hide this comparison, click on the "Hide Comparison Trend" button. Click on it again to reactivate it ("Show Comparison Trend").

Data on the graph can also be viewed by Day, Week, Month, or Quarter:

🚨 Note 🚨
Downloading the report's data will not download the comparison data.
