What is the "Maximize Spend" Keyword Boost?

We are thrilled to present a new Beta feature called Maximize Spend Keyword Boost. This functionality aims to prioritize the full utilization of your daily budget for the isolated keywords while still maintaining an ACoS efficiency target to maximize attributed sales.

In the past, Perpetua's keyword boost featured two KPI prioritizations:

  • Target ACoS Optimization

  • Top of Search Optimization

To enhance clarity regarding the purpose of each keyword boost, we have rebranded this feature as Optimization Objective and introduced the new Beta objective Maximize Spend.

What is the purpose of this Beta?

  1. To validate the new Perpetua model's ability to efficiently unlock search space opportunities while maintaining target ACoS.

  2. Receive feedback on user experience.

What to expect from the Beta?

Upon changing the optimization objective, your keyword boost will transition to the new optimization model, initiating the beta test. The testing phase will conclude on March 15th, and all keyword boosts will revert to its original optimization objective. Perpetua will analyze the performance data and implement necessary improvements in preparation for the General Availability (GA) release. We actively encourage users to share feedback, contributing to the enhancement of the feature.

  1. Once a keyword boost is enrolled into the Beta, Maximize Spend optimizer will kick in.

  2. Under the hood, the optimizer leverages reinforcement learning techniques to determine the optimal bid such that the campaign budget is spent in full without exceeding the Target ACoS

  3. This optimization works by overriding keyword bids. The keyword bid override will show up in the activity stream as “Target Updated” by ad-engine@draper.ai.

  4. The feature will continue to respect the Target ACoS but may exceed it during the exploration period.

  5. After the exploration period, we expect the budget utilization for the enrolled campaigns to increase without exceeding the Target ACoS, resulting in improved sales.

What are the Beta limitations or risks?

  1. The Beta is currently exclusive to existing keyword boosts, and users cannot launch a new keyword boost with the Beta objective. Enrollment in the beta will no longer be possible after the signup deadline on February 14th.

  2. Intraday schedules will be applied on top of Keyword Boosts, regardless of the optimization objective.

  3. The new model includes an exploration period. Immediate performance improvement is not guaranteed. We recommend allowing the system to run for at least a month to assess the results.

Who are the ideal candidates for this Beta?

Users may observe a more noticeable impact on performance for specific keyword boosts. The following types of keyword boosts are particularly suitable for this beta:

  • Current Budget Utilization below 70%

  • Isolated keywords deemed high potential but underbidding

Participation Guidelines

Beta sign-ups begin on Feb 5th and end on Feb 14th. Following February 14th, opt-ins will not be accepted.

We strongly encourage users to opt in at their earliest convenience to allow Perpetua to collect more performance data, facilitating ongoing model enhancements.

How do I enroll in the Beta?

  1. A banner will show up on your Sponsored Products page if you have at least 1 goal eligible to participate in the beta.

  2. Navigate to the goals with the ‘Eligible for Beta’ badge in your goal list

    1. Eligible for Beta - The goal must have at least 1 active keyword boost.

  3. Navigate to the goal deep-dive view and edit an existing keyword boost to update to the new objective

  4. Users can opt out anytime by switching the objective back. However, we recommend letting the model run for at least 14 days to account for the initial exploration stage. Should you have any feedback, please click on the ‘Leave Feedback’ button to fill out our Google form.

Feedback Mechanism

Users can leave feedback anytime by clicking on the ‘Leave Feedback’ button in the banner, this will redirect them to a Google form.
