Why Do I Need to Add Targets to My Goal?

When launching a new goal you may see the following message, indicating that it is mandatory that you add targets to your goal before you launch it.

You may be wondering why you are seeing this message. Perpetua's ad engine will harvest targets based on your past performance when a goal is launched. In some cases, you may not have many (or any) keywords that have converted recently, in which case our ad engine doesn't have many keywords to start with.

Campaigns get smarter with more data points, and the more keywords that you're able to add, the more you'll be able to springboard the optimization timeline for these campaigns by providing our ad engine with the data it needs to get started.

How Many Targets Should I Add?

If there is little to no history, a minimum of 5 targets (keywords or ASINs) is required before you can launch the goal. However, adding 10–15 or more keywords that are relevant to your product is recommended for the best results. You can use our AI Keyword Research Tool to add targets to your goal. You can find more detailed information about this feature here.

Should I Add Targets Even if It Isn’t Mandatory?

Perpetua will download all data from your past 60 days of performance when your account is connected and will use all this data when a new goal is launched. This means that if you have any new targets that you haven't bid on within that time period, you can add them manually at this step.
