How to connect Perpetua to Claude with the Perpetua MCP

Written by Pedro Lima

The Perpetua MCP lets you ask questions about your Perpetua advertising data in plain English and get answers back from your own numbers — no exports, no pivot tables. This article walks you through connecting it to Claude. It takes about five minutes, and most of that is waiting for a login screen.

Quick links

Before you start

Three things you need, and you probably have two of them already:

  1. A Perpetua login. This is important. The Perpetua MCP shows you exactly what your Perpetua login already sees in the app — nothing more, nothing less. Your Perpetua credentials control access, not your Claude subscription. If you can't see a geo company in the Perpetua app, you won't see it here either.

  2. A Claude plan that supports custom connectors. Claude Pro or above. It doesn't have to be a work plan — a personal one works the same way.

  3. Access to the Perpetua MCP. During the closed beta, we switch this on for named people rather than everyone. If you're not sure whether you're on the list, ask your CSM — it's a quick answer.

The Perpetua MCP works with any AI assistant that supports MCP connectors. MCP is an open standard, not a Claude feature, so you're not locked in. This article covers Claude because that's what the beta is running on. If you'd rather connect it to something else, you can — you'll just be working out the steps yourself.

Connect the Perpetua MCP to Claude

The Perpetua MCP is a custom connector, which means you add it yourself with a name and a URL rather than finding it in Claude's connector directory. It's four steps and about five minutes. Click and read through each step below:

Step #1 - Open your connector settings in Claude

Open the connector menu in Claude. In any chat, click the + button next to the message box, choose Connectors, then Add connector → Add custom connector.

Step #2 - Enter the name and the URL

Use Perpetua as the name — it's what you'll see in your connector list — and https://mcp.perpetua.io/mcp as the remote MCP server URL. Both need to be exact; a typo in the URL is the most common reason this step fails.

Name = Perpetua

Step #3 - Sign in with your Perpetua credentials when prompted

Authorize access with your Perpetua login. Claude will hand you over to Perpetua's authorization screen, which lists the permissions being requested. Click Allow. This is the step that decides which data you can reach — the Perpetua MCP sees exactly what your Perpetua login already sees in the app, no more and no less.

Step #4 - Switch Perpetua on in your chat.

Open the + menu again and toggle Perpetua on. You'll do this in each new chat — connecting once doesn't switch it on everywhere, which catches most people out at least once.

Once Perpetua shows as connected and toggled on, you're ready to ask your first question.

Ask your first question

Start narrow. Broad questions like "how are we doing?" give the Perpetua MCP a lot of room to guess, and you'd rather it didn't. A good first question names three things: the geo company you mean, the metrics you want, and the time period.

A quick definition, because this one matters: a geo company is one advertising account on one marketplace. Acme Inc US and Acme Inc CA are two separate geo companies, even when it's the same brand. So naming the marketplace isn't fussiness — it's the difference between the right answer and a confidently wrong one.

Try something like this:

"Show me spend, sales and ACoS by week for the last 8 complete weeks in [your geo company] on Amazon US."

Claude will take around 30 seconds to come back. That's normal, and it's a good sign — it's going and querying your actual data rather than answering from memory. Resist the urge to resend the question; that just starts it over.

When you're ready to go further, the related article on asking good questions covers the habits that keep answers reliable.

Good to know

Answers usually take around 30 seconds, longer for broad questions covering a lot of data. If nothing's come back after a couple of minutes, try again in a different chat and check if you hit any of your usage limits within your AI assistant of choice. If you still don't received any response using our MCP, reach out to our Support team.

Managing several geo companies? The Perpetua MCP can look across all of them in one conversation — under the same permissions your Perpetua login already has. For agency teams, this is usually the first thing that makes it click.

Claude can turn answers into tables, charts and documents. That's Claude doing the formatting with what the Perpetua MCP gave it. Check it the way you'd check your own export, especially before it goes to a client.

If you're pointing this at client data, have a look at your own client agreements first — particularly any terms covering AI tools. Better to check now than to explain later.

What the Perpetua MCP doesn't do

Here's the honest scope, so nothing surprises you later. This first release reads your data. It doesn't change anything — it can't pause a campaign, move a budget, or adjust a target. If you ask it to, it'll tell you it can't.

There's also data it can't reach yet:

  • Your Perpetua configuration — goals, segments, targets, budgets, and branded, competitor or category splits

  • Retail data — inventory, pricing, buy box and returns

  • DSP creative level daily performance ONLY — no other DSP datasets are currently included

  • AMC analytics, market share, incrementality and Return on Consumer

  • Product tags and product families

  • Budget plans

For any of those, the Perpetua app is still where you go.

One more limit: Perpetua MCP can't see why Perpetua's engine changed a bid. It can show you that a bid changed and what happened around it, but the engine's reasoning isn't something it has access to. So if an answer offers you a tidy explanation for a bid change, that explanation isn't coming from Perpetua. Your CSM or our Customer Experience team are the right resources for that question.

And the broader version of the same point: the Perpetua MCP is early software, and a wrong answer can still read like a right one. Check figures against the Perpetua app before they reach a client. If a number doesn't match, we want to know — tell us and include the question you asked, which makes it much faster to track down.
