If you have initially launched Universal Goals and are now ready to start with targeting a more specific audience through switching to either Brand-based or Advanced goals, then look no further, we’ve listed our top tips on how to do so below.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Switch from a Universal Goal Structure to Brand-based or Advanced targeting

Step 1

Click into the Sponsored Product Goal you are trying to switch the Goal Structure for.

Step 2

On the right hand side of the screen, you will see a module with a dropdown menu that will allow you to change targeting type to Brand-based or Advanced.

Step 3

Click on the arrow icon beside the targeting type you are currently using and this will show which targeting types you can switch to (Brand-based or Advanced).

Step 4

Complete the additional sections with the required Daily budgets and Target ACoS. If you have chosen Advanced targeting, you will need to add new Branded phrases as well as Competitor phrases. Please see some examples of these below:

  • Branded Phrases: Your brand name and any misspellings that come along with it (i.e. Adidas, Adiadas, Addidas).

  • Competitor Phrases: Competitor brand names and any misspellings that come along with it (i.e. Nike, Nikey).

Step 5

After you have filled out all of the required information, go ahead and click "Update" and your goal structure change will be updated 🙌.

If you have any more questions about targeting types in Sponsored Product goals, please refer to this article.
